Levante Union Deportiva, also known as "Les Granotes" (the frogs), was founded in a very special date – 9.9.1909, and is active since than in the Spanish football league. The club had some very hard times, from financial troubles to plain bad luck, but fortunately, during its bad years, the entire Spanish league volunteered to help. Thanks to a benefit match between top players from the league and Levante, the financial pit was solved almost entirely, and the team got back on its feet.
